Soiree Insulaire by Shoichi Hasegawa - 28 X 32 Inches (Framed Etching Numbered & Signed) 53/99

Soiree Insulaire by Shoichi Hasegawa.

Shoichi Hasegawa, painter, and printmaker, is a Japanese artist born in 1929 in Yaizu and now living in France. In 1957, after completing his studies in drawing and painting in Kyoto he has his first solo exhibition, which it is just the beginning of a series of successful exhibitions around the globe. He moves to Paris in 1961 and works at engraving at the Atelier 17 of Stanley William Hayter. This experience, along with the influence of abstract artists like Jackson Pollock and Mark Rothko, will be crucial for his personal style as a graphic artist and to obtain in 1968, the first price in engraving at the International Exhibition of Ljubljana, among many other recognitions. Today, Hasegawa’s work is part of numerous prestigious collections like the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, the Bibliotheque Nationale in Paris, the Museum of Modern Art in New York, etc. His artwork is a duality between modern engraving techniques of Western cultures and the Japanese tradition of imagery and calligraphy which results in symbolic and poetic compositions with faded colors and transparencies. This original lithograph by the artist Hasegawa entitled Soiree Insulaire, 26 X 22”, is framed, numbered, and signed from a series of 99 copies. This piece, like most of his work, is the product of Western and Eastern aesthetics that will enrich your interior decoration with its harmonious colors and poetic expression. You can display it in your living room and create an interesting and modern style. This piece is a limited edition.
